Clutch 2--Hyperith and Calmith
Fortunately, Hyperith's eggs seemed to have better timing than Eoth's had. It was late afternoon, right before supper, when the white-rainbow dragoness bugled to announce the Hatching of her clutch.
The candidates were given the traditional white robes and ushered into the Hatching Sands as guests filled the stands. Several people wondered if, or rather, how many rares there would be.
Everyone watched in silence as the first of Hyperith's clutch hatched. A long crack made it's way through the middle of the small egg. With a shudder, the egg split neatly in two, and a tiny, dark green dragon sat between the two shattered halves of her egg. With a shake of her head, the green dragon rushed to the female candidates and crooned as she picked her rider.

Thorndike
smiled as she scratched the green's head. "C'mon, Isith, we'll get you something to eat." The wolf shapeshifter said as she led the green away.
Two eggs hatched at once as a small blue dragon was dwarfed by his much larger brown brother. The darkly colored blue stood on shaky legs, and walked straight to
Thros. Hello, Thros. My name is Amonth, and I'm hungry. C'mon, let's eat! Thros rushed to keep up with the blue dragon as he raced off the sands.
The brown hatchling was slower to Impress, looking over all the male candidates carefully and even a few of the girls. Finally, he decided, and butted his head against his chosen's leg. "Hello, who are you?"
Kansas asked as he stared down at the brown dragonet.
My name's Anubith, and you, Kansas, are my rider. The brown said to the young man.
The spectators in the stands began to talk among themselves. No rare dragons yet? Would there be any at all? Hyperith glared at the people closest to her, muttering about there not being any rare dragons yet.
Another egg hatched, revealing a small green dragon. She raced to her chosen and looked up at
Afgunst. Am I pretty, Afgunst?
Afgunst smiled as she stroked the dainty green dragon's head. "You're beautiful,
Horuth."
Then the green hatchling spread her wings wide, and several people in the stands gasped. The green dragon's wings were black, as dark as ebony.
Good. Now let's eat!
Afgunst grinned smugly as she lead the green-black hatchling away.
A section of the sands seemed to sink into itself, and soon a
nineth egg was uncovered. One unusual candidate watched this egg carefully. The spirit dragon, Dainvoi, blinked as the hidden egg shattered explosively, leaving a tiny dragonet blinking in the light.
The small green blinked up at Dain in confusion as she lay on her back.
Why does everything look so odd, Dainvoi? Dainvoi blinked, startled to hear the green dragon's soft voice in his head. "Because you're upside down, Kaileth." He laughed.
A small blue hatched next. It tripped over it's many limbs, and spread it's wings out for balance. The blue dragon's wings were as white as snow, brilliant against his blue hide. After shaking his head, he jumped up and raced by all the candidates, looking up at someone in the stands.
Jiyoudas, I am your light. My name is Asarishitath. The blue-white crooned as his chosen slowly made his way down to his dragon, staring in bewilderment.
Another green hatched and chose her rider quickly.
My name is Basteth. What do I look like to you, Mara? Illusion's answer was drowned out by the roars of the crowd as two eggs hatched into brilliant, rainbow-winged dragons.
The first of the two rainbow dragons, brilliant white with light rainbow wings, headed to the last male candidate.
Toryn began to protest. "Osirith, I'm sick. I'm gonna die soon."
Then I will be with you. You won't be alone, Toryn.
His black-rainbow sister had chosen her rider, also.
Ynyr aur Tarrant. Honor Silence, I am yours. My name is Sirenth. The elf girl smiled as she lead the black rainbow dragoness away, though she said nothing.
With all the eggs hatched and all the hatchlings bonded and being fed, the stands were quickly emptied as everybody went to enjoy the hatching feast.
