Clutch 29--Avodoth and Vheyth
It had been a week and a half since Teah's death, and the Dragonry had returned mostly to normal. Except for the Weyrleaders.
"We cannot keep ignoring it. We've got to form some fighting wings, or something!" Rahel snapped at the Weyrleader.
A'ra replied stoicly, "There's no way of knowing that those...creatures-"
"Deingons." Rahel interrupted.
A'ra snorted and continued. "Deingons, then-will ever attack again."
Their arguement likely would have continued in this manner for quite some time, had Avodoth's ringing bugle not announced the hatching of her clutch. As it was, they shared exasperated looks with each other and strode to the Hatching Cavern.
Avodoth was flitting around her rocking eggs nervously, her rider trying to calm her down, but it wasn't until the candidates filed in that she settled down, spreading a wing over her clutch protectively.
The eggs began to hatch, regardless, and in a flash, there were three broken shells and two more already cracking. The first hatchling was a large, brightly colored red who would likely rival a bronze in size, once fully grown. His two siblings were a shy, navy blue female and medium-sized purple the image of her mother.
The two females were first, and the female blue strode over to the candidates, while the purple sat where she was, uninterested.
Lezly! I'm yours now, and you are mine! I'm your Chifoth! The blue exclaimed proudly.
At the same time, the purple spoke up, talking to her parents and the Senior Queen of her plans.
My name's Eraneth. It's okay, I'll be fine on my own, so I'll just go to CloudFire City, alright? With no objections, Eraneth was lead towards the kitchens, followed by Lezly and her blue Chifoth.
Next the red made his decision, cocking his head to one side good-naturedly.
M'name's Marreyeth, and I'm going to Cy Dragonstake. He said with a nod to his parents, and he, too, took off for the kitchens as the two eggs which had cracked earlier broke open.
A pale green tail emerged from one end of the larger egg, and a light green female appeared, large for her color and closer to the size of a Pernese blue than her hide color. Her green-sized brother, on the other hand, was a deep, mahagony brown tone. They both nodded to each other, and headed towards the female candidates.
The light green picked out
Farnera from the crowd, and placed her paws on her chosen's legs. My name's Atheyth, Farnera. You look interesting, but I'm hungry right now, so can you get me some food?
The brown hung around Farnera and Atheyth, shuffling slightly, until he spoke up.
I dun wanna bond, but can I go with you, anyway? I'm Juiuth.
The last egg wriggled and rocked, and finally, an over-sized pair of red wings emerged from the eggshell. With a little more effort, a dark red dragonet climbed out of his shell, peering around the Hatching Cavern. He crooned when he met
Autyr's gaze, and stumbled over to him. "Thueuith! You look hungry. Come on, let's eat." He laughed, helping his dragon towards the kitchen.
With the hatching officially over, Avodoth crooned and stretched her limbs, glad to be off the sands at last. She'd seen enough drama over the last few weeks.
