Clutch 31--Kakanorii and Nezza
Kakanorii's small clutch of six eggs had barely started to rock, and the green mother was already beginning to panic. Oh! Um, they're hatching! She let out an overly-loud bugle, shocking her drak mate out of his slumber.
"I think they know." He pointed out, seeing as it was midday and people were already finding seats in the stands. The candidates stumbled onto the sands, and Kakanorii began twitching her tail nervously as the eggs rocked harder. Finally, with a crash, two eggs knocked into each other, spilling both dragonets onto the sand.
They shared a mix of their parents' features, with mottled hide and head crests, as well as a furry mane on their necks and tails. The first hatchling was a mottled green color, though when he spread his wings, their deep red wingsails were revealed.
His quieter brother was a normal Icarian Earth-brown with white fur and wings. The earth was first to stand up on wobbly legs, and he stumbled his way over to the male candidates, until one candidate stepped forward, helping him to steady himself. "Are you okay,
Theiiza?" Talane asked the Earth. Theiiza nodded and crooned, and they left to go to the kitchens.
The green and red, meanwhile, yawned lazily and, with a flick of his tail, trotted over to a large tricolor canine sitting within the group of candidates. "
Fauba! I'm a Jungle, and I'm Meniiza, and I'm alssso hungrrry, ssso can we go eat now?" The hatchling asked in one mouthful.
Another egg was hatching, leaving a deep black hatchling with golden fur and wings-a night. The dark dragoness stood up and stretched, then made her way towards one of the candidates, stopping in front of
Catara. "Hello therrre," She said softly. "My name isss Alezaii, and I'm awfully hungrrry. Can we go eat now, Catarrra?"
Catara readily agreed, and they cleared the sands as two more eggs began to crack. The first egg revealed a stony grey hide topped by a mane of black fur. The grey hatchling struggled out of her shell, aided by
Aislenn. The hatchling crooned once she was free, and turned to the girl. "Thank you forrr helping me out of there, Aissslenn. I am Stone Enyzaii, and I'm hungrrry." The stone hatchling crooned urgently as her stomach rumbled, and Aislenn laughed as they left.
The second egg hatched into a mottled green plant hatchling, who dropped to the ground and began to look over the candidates. Not seeming satisfied, he scoffed and turned away, nearly tripping over the last egg as it wobbled into his path. From the shell, a soft, shy voice said, "Sssorry, wasssn't watching wherrre I wasss going." A deep blue-toned hatchling began to climb her way out of the shell.
Her plant brother scowled and ignored her, turning to his parents. "My name isss
Vriiza, and sssince my bond isss not herrrre, I'll go to Starburst Weyr." He announced before striding off to find his way to the kitchens.
His blue sister blinked, looking around her. "Oh. I sssuppossse my bond is not herrre either." She looked up at her father charmingly. "May I go home with you, Fatherrrr? My name isss
Sheyazaii." The hatchling-later termed an Ocean-asked.
At her father's nod, she raced off to the kitchens to be fed, and yet another hatching was finished.
